Becoming a grandmother to a beautiful grandson, having your own brand of hand-dyed yarns, and knitting as a hobby—this combination was bound to lead to something! Everything I knit and design now has my grandson in mind. First, a lovely blanket for his crib and stroller, and now a sweater. Of course, it had to be a colorful sweater because I absolutely love color (luckily, my daughter-in-law does too, so I can knit whatever I like—no color is too crazy).
I chose a top-down sweater with raglan sleeves and knit it with double strands. For this version, I used one strand of our new self-striping yarn, paired with one strand of Simple Sock Mini. The speckled minis soften the stripes and create a unique gradient effect.
Materials:
- 1x Wol met Verve Simple Sock Self Striping (100g/420m) 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon, or a comparable self-striping sock yarn.
- 4 (for the 2 smallest sizes) or 5 (for the 2 larger sizes) colors of Simple Sock Mini (20g/84m) 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon.
Yarn requirements:
- Size 0-3 months: 65 grams Self Striping + 65 grams Sock Minis
- Size 3-6 months: 75+75 grams
- Size 6-9 months: 85+85 grams
- Size 9-12 months: 90+90 grams
